Residents in a quiet Inglewood neighborhood say their nights are being upended by an unexpected and growing problem: feral cats.

Travetta Smith-Clay, who has lived in the area for years, describes the felines as anything but cute. “They be on the top of the house and you think an earthquake is coming and it’s them,” she said. “I’m just tired. I want something done with it.” Smith-Clay says the cats and kittens appear to be multiplying rapidly, moving through the neighborhood in what she describes as “like migrating, like oh my God, zombies.”

The influx of feral cats is creating ripple effects for the community. Residents say the animals are attracting coyotes, which have been seen preying on the cats. One neighbor even captured a mauling on security cameras, leaving her family shaken.
