LOS ANGELES – Two Nordstrom locations are set to close within a week .

The locations at the Saint Louis Galleria in St. Louis, Missouri and Santa Monica Place in Santa Monica, California are slated to shutter Aug. 24 and Aug. 26, respectively, a Nordstrom spokesperson previously confirmed to USA TODAY.

The Santa Monica location is in the capstone mall of the Third Street Promenade shopping district, an area that has seen waning fortunes since the COVID-19 pandemic. A company spokesperson told St. Louis FOX affiliate KTVI that renewing the lease with the Galleria would be unprofitable.

"We believe we’ll be best able to serve customers in each region by leveraging our surrounding stores and through our digital channels," a Nordstrom spokesperson told USA TODAY in July.
