Toronto — The union representing 10,000 Air Canada flight attendants says it's reached a tentative agreement with the carrier and their strike, which had entered its fourth day, is over.

The Canadian Union of Public Employees, or CUPE, made the announcement on its Facebook page early Tuesday.

"We are required to advise our membership that we must fully cooperate with resumption of operations," the union said, adding that talks that began at 7 p.m. Monday lasted until 4:23 a.m. Tuesday.

The negotiations were the first since the walkout began Saturday . It affected some 130,000 travelers a day at the peak of the summer travel season.
