Plans to build a huge battery energy storage site the equivalent to the size of 21 football pitches in Aberdeenshire has received backlash from the local community.
Proposals were put forward by Blackford Renewables for the 500-megawatt site in a field by Rothienorman, where it would store excess wind and solar power, with the intention of helping support Scotland's transition to renewal energy .
However, the plans have been met with backlash by local residents , who claim the new site will be a "montrosity" in their own back gardens.
