A slew of Rock and Roll’s most famous musicians from the ‘70s and ‘80s have come together to produce a tribute album to the Raspberries, a Cleveland-based band led by vocalist Eric Carmen, that is set to be released on Sept. 12.
The collection of songs covered by musicians such as Rick Springfield, Vicki and Debbi Peterson of the Bangels and Lou Gramm of Foreigner is titled “Play On: A Raspberries Tribute (Think Like A Key),” a reference to the band’s single from their final studio album, “Starting Over,” released in 1974.
The two-CD set is Raspberries approved with founding member Jim Bonfanti providing drums on four tracks and Carmen, who died on March 10, 2024, contributing the count-in on “Tonight.”
