DES MOINES, Iowa —

The U.S. Navy honored its connection with the state of Iowa at this year's fair.

Crew members from the submarine USS Iowa presented Gov. Kim Reynolds with the craft's commissioning pennant at the Iowa State Fair.

They presented it during a Veterans Day Parade kick-off on Aug. 11.

The pennant commemorates the submarine being placed into active service, which took place in April of this year.

Reynolds served as the keynote speaker during that ceremony and expressed her pride in the crew and the boat's connection to the State of Iowa.
