ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — City officials have approved a multi-million dollar renovation plan for Davis Park, marking a significant step forward after previous budget issues stalled the project.

The renovation plan, valued at over $15 million, includes the development of a new skate park, playground, and stage. This approval comes after an earlier attempt was halted due to costs exceeding the budget.

"Davis Park has huge potential," said Alderman Mark Bonne, who was among those voting in favor of the plan. "It is exciting because it is a riverfront venue with Embassy Suites at its doorstep."

The renovation of Davis Park is seen as a pivotal development for the city, as it is the only city-owned park. The project aims to enhance the park's appeal and functionality.
