Coventry City Council's Cabinet is set to review a report next week detailing its current financial standing, highlighting the same fiscal pressures experienced by many local government areas. The council generates a quarterly report (every three months) to keep a close eye on its spending throughout the fiscal year, which spans from April 2025 to March 2026.
The First Quarter Financial Monitoring Report for 2025/26 (up to June 2025), due to be presented to the Cabinet on Tuesday 26 August, provides an overview of the council's finances for the first quarter. The council had to make significant savings in 2024/25 and is currently predicting a £1.6m overspend on its net revenue spend – hence, it continues to monitor its finances closely as it prepares to set its budget early in 2026.
