Aberdeen are set to open talks with Dante Polvara over a new contract ahead of the transfer window closing in just under a fortnight's time.

Several key members of the Scottish Cup -winning squad are also subject to talks over new deals, with Polvara among those out-of-contract at the end of the season.

The influential midfielder is a key member of Jimmy Thelin's squad, and the Dons will now look to extend his current deal, reports Record Sport .

The 25-year-old, who is a fans' favourite, is also known to be happy at Aberdeen having got up to top gear after a serious injury last season.

He has already made an impression off the bench in the opening games against Hearts and Celtic, but didn't feature in last weekend's Premier Sports Cup victory over Morton.
