“It felt good to get back on the court,” Martin said. “The wind was quite a big challenge especially on the serving side you have to hit softer on a day like today.”

Olivia Vogel also earned a win at No. 2 for the Eskymos as she defeated Alexis Burch 6-0, 6-1.

“It was our first game of the season,” Escanaba coach Chris Ogren said. “We have eight new faces in the lineup this year and they all played good tennis today.”

“That was the match of the day,” Chris Ogren said. “She got some huge points and played very well in a long first set.”
