Joe Wooden, who died earlier this year, was a founding member of the St. Joseph and Area Historical Society, serving on the board for more than 20 years. He was a recipient of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Award, authored the book A Drum to Beat Upon, and worked throughout his life to preserve local history, authoring heritage signs at St. Joseph Memorial Park and providing talks about the French settlement and Narcisse Cantin. In honour of Wooden, the St. Joseph and Area Historical Society revealed a bench, pictured above, that bears his name which was installed at St. Joseph Memorial Park.
