Eva Pilgrim has been selected as the next host of "Inside Edition."

"Inside Edition" is entering a new era.

The longtime CBS newsmagazine is welcoming a new host, Eva Pilgrim, as veteran anchor Deborah Norville steps away from the cameras after 30 years.

Pilgrim, a former ABC News correspondent and "GMA3" co-anchor, will network hop, aiming to charm a loyal audience that has grown accustomed to Norville's signature lilt and shoulder-length blonde locks.

In a recent interview with Variety, Pilgrim, 42, admitted that Norville leaves "insanely big shoes to fill."

"I want to do right by her and the staff," she told the outlet. Pilgrim, who described herself as an "Army brat," an informal term for the child of a military family that moves around a lot, said her transient younger years led her to journalism.

"As a child, it definitely helped. I had a curiosity about different places, and that really appealed to me working as a journalist," she told Variety. "You do see nuances, the differences between different places even though they are very similar."

Norville, who signed off in May, has been replaced in the interim by Mary Calvi. As Pilgrim prepares to take the reins, she's hopeful years of on-the-ground experience will help her to bring viewers "inside," as the show's namesake implies, the stories dominating the news.

"I traveled the world and did multiple cycles in presidential elections and lots of weather tragedies," she said. "Being in the field in that kind of way, you see people for who they really are."

Pilgrim is just the fourth face ever to serve as host of "Inside Edition," following David Frost, Bill O'Reilly and Norville.
