WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. (WSIL) -- The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office arrested two people in connection with an arson incident at McKinney Chapel Freewill Baptist Church.

The church is located in the Lake of Egypt area and suffered extensive damage from the fire, authorities stated on Tuesday.

The sheriff's office reported finding broken windows and some fire damage on July 24, 2025. The damage was reportedly estimated at more than $300,000.

Detectives identified Ethan Lam and Chad Krueger as suspects. Lam was arrested on July 30, 2025, and Krueger on August 14, 2025. Both were charged with arson and criminal damage to property, both Class 1 felonies.
