Inter Miami star Lionel Messi is in doubt for Wednesday's Leagues Cup quarterfinal against Tigres.
Messi did not train with the rest of the team on Tuesday after appearing to aggravate a hamstring injury in a 3-1 win against the LA Galaxy on Saturday.
At a press conference Tuesday, Inter Miami head coach Javier Mascherano did not rule Messi out but confirmed the 38-year-old trained separately.
“We will keep monitoring him," Mascherano said. "I can’t say whether he will play or not, but he’s not ruled out.”

Messi suffered a hamstring injury earlier this month in a Leagues Cup match against Necaxa.
After missing two games, the Argentine returned on Saturday against the Galaxy and put in a star showing after coming on at halftime of the MLS match.
Messi scored an 84th-minute winner, then provided a tremendous flicked assist for Luis Suárez to put the game away five minutes later.
But Messi appeared in discomfort at various points against the Galaxy, and the World Cup winner left the field quickly after the final whistle.
Losing Messi would be a major blow for Inter Miami, which will face a Tigres side that defeated three straight MLS opponents in Phase One of the Leagues Cup.
The winner of the match between the Herons and Tigres will face Toluca or Orlando City in the semifinal.
