The DuPage River overflowed its banks and covered the Naperville Riverwalk Tuesday following a storm Monday that dumped two inches of rain on the city.

Naperville city spokeswoman Linda LaCloche said the volume of rain resulted in road closures overnight but that all roadways had been reopened as of Tuesday morning.

The river should recede in coming days and the Riverwalk return to normal as the National Weather Service said rain is not expected for the rest of the week with a cold front moving through the area. Originally Published: August 19, 2025 at 11:13 AM CDT
