Anaida Poilievre is set to spend a month in Montreal to focus on writing a book. This decision comes after she dedicated part of her summer to supporting her husband, Pierre Poilievre, in a rural Alberta byelection campaign for the Conservative Party of Canada.
Poilievre, who is the editor in chief and a frequent contributor to the lifestyle platform Pretty and Smart Co., announced her writing plans in a Facebook post. She is looking for a short-term, furnished rental in the Griffintown neighborhood, ideally with a gym and swimming pool.
In her late July post, she mentioned, "A little getaway while I write a book. I will be coming in and out and at times bring my two kids for a weekend with me, etc. But it’s mainly just me parked at a desk writing all day."
However, she has faced challenges in finding suitable accommodations. Poilievre noted that many buildings in the area have bylaws that prohibit short-term rentals, such as those listed on Airbnb or Vrbo. Earlier this year, Montreal implemented restrictions on such rentals, allowing them to operate only during the summer months, with exceptions in limited zones.
While she has not disclosed the specific topic of her book, Poilievre described it as "full of hope and positivity" in a follow-up comment. She added, "I think you’ll love it. After all, kindness doesn’t cost much."
Anaida Poilievre has also been vocal about her role beyond being a political spouse. She has stated, "I’m not just a prop for my husband and the Tories."
In her biography on the Pretty and Smart platform, she is listed as the author of an upcoming book titled "Strong Pillars: Building an Unshakable Foundation."
Recently, the Poilievres celebrated Pierre's byelection victory in Camrose, Alberta, a seat previously held by Damien Kurek. Anaida shared a message on social media, stating, "We’re back," along with a collage of family photos featuring their children, Cruz, 3, and Valentina, 4.
In her post, she reflected on the challenges of political life, saying, "Friendships come and go as if dictated by the polls. Just like the weather, people come and go. So remember, family is everything and fighting for hope is still worth it all."
Anaida Poilievre immigrated to Canada from Venezuela with her family in 1995. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in communication from the University of Ottawa. At 19, she began her career as a parliamentary affairs adviser for Senator Claud Carignan, where she met Pierre. In 2015, she worked for Alberta MP Michael Cooper but resigned after the 2022 leadership convention.
