As a kid, Jeff Hurd and his brothers would ride their bicycles to the Grand Junction Regional Airport to watch planes take off and land. Years later, Hurd returned to the airport as a U.S. Congressman to announce the airport’s latest grant for its new runway project.
On Monday, Hurd, who represents Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District in the House, announced that the airport had received a $12.5 million Airport Improvement Project (AIP) Grant from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for its runway reconstruction project.
The grant will be accepted today by the Grand Junction Airport Authority and the Mesa County Board of Commissioners. Grand Junction City Council will vote Wednesday night on approving the grant. Western Colorado
