The City of Yuma Fire Department has implemented a new automated alert system at all fire stations to improve response times and reduce stress for first responders.

The Phoenix G2 Station Alerting System allows dispatchers to send alerts to the appropriate fire station while staying on the line with callers in need of emergency help.

Improving that connection is a major upgrade, said Capt. Francisco Leon, public information officer for the Yuma Fire Department.

“Dispatchers are now free of having to dispatch us and then get back to the call,” Leon said. “Now they push the button, and the computer does the work they used to do. They can stay on the phone with the person who might be experiencing the worst moment of their life.”
