JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jacksonville City Council President Kevin Carrico announced on Tuesday plans to bar elected officials access to free tickets to Jacksonville Jaguars home games.
The "DEEGAN" amendment, which stands for Denying Elected Elites Gameday Access Nonsense, aims to eliminate taxpayer-subsidized tickets for members of both city council and the mayor's office.
"Taxpayers should not bankroll politicians," said Carrico. "I'm calling on Mayor Donna Deegan to back this reform and prove she's on the side of the taxpayers, not perks. If Jacksonville families must buy their own tickets, politicians should too."
