Alabama State football is a little over a week away from its season opener against UAB on Aug. 28 at Protective Stadium in Birmingham.

The Montgomery Advertiser obtained the contract for the game to determine how much Alabama State will receive as a payout for participating and what other clauses the contract contains.

With an FBS opponent as Alabama State's first opponent of the season, certain requirements must be met for the game to be considered an official FBS game.

Alabama State has to meet NCAA scholarship rules so the game counts as an official FBS game. If Alabama State doesn't meet those rules, it must notify UAB. If Alabama State fails to meet the requirement, UAB can cancel the game without penalty and Alabama State would owe UAB $300,000.
