According to an earnings report, the warehouse retailer recently rolled out “scan-and-go” technology in a sampling of its U.S. stores, and the app-enabled innovation is already proving popular with consumers who prefer skipping long lines.
Similar to the shopping experience offered by BJ’s and Sam’s Club, the technology has “been extremely successful in moving people through the lines and expediting the transactions,” CEO Ron Vachris recently told analysts and investors during a third-quarter report. “We’ve seen some very, very early results have been very positive and great adoption from our members, seeing that as well.”
