TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A Florida sailor went missing after going overboard from his ship on July 28, officials said.
According to the U.S. Navy, the sailor was identified as Jose Antonio Rivera Lynch IV, a 19-year-old aviation boatswain’s mate (launch/recovery equipment) airman. A USNI report said Rivera Lynch was from Middleburg, Florida.
Navy officials said both American and Australian Border Forces spent over 45 hours searching about 2,200 square miles in the Timor Sea, just north of the Australian continent. The search was suspended on July 30.
