Beer drinkers in two Ottawa Valley communities will soon have fewer places to pick up their favourite brews. The Beer Store has announced it will close another 12 outlets across the province on October 19. This group of closures includes the Eganville store. Earlier this summer, it was announced that the Deep River location would be closing as of the end of the business day on September 14.
The latest closures announcement, made in an August 18 news release, is part of a wave of reductions by Ontario’s largest beer retailer. Since May 2024, The Beer Store has confirmed closure plans for 95 locations, pointing to shifting consumer habits and increased competition from grocery and convenience stores, which gained broader alcohol retail privileges under provincial changes last year.
