ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — The Rockford City Council approved a $15 million plan to renovate Davis Park.

The renovations will roll out in two phases due to the short amount of time to renovate the park ahead of next year's Ironman marathon.

The first phase would include building a skatepark, playground and new paths, while the second phase would include building a stage, concessions and restrooms.

The first phase is expected to be finished by June 2026.

Alderman Mark Bonne said the location of the park gives it enormous potential to flourish.
