Eugene School District 4J has prevailed in its lawsuit against the U.S. government , ensuring diversity, equity and inclusion practices can continue in schools.
A Maryland judge voided the “Dear Colleague” letter and subsequent certification requirement from the U.S. Department of Education (DOE). U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland Judge Stephanie A. Gallagher made her ruling on Aug. 14, marking a win for 4J and the other groups in the suit.
"We were all thrilled," 4J school board Chair Jenny Jonak told The Register-Guard. "We view this as a win for public education."
