Cassville Tavern gets new life as historic Jackson landmark undergoes major overhaul

JACKSON, NJ — One of Jackson Township’s most storied landmarks, the Cassville Tavern, is in the midst of a dramatic transformation as crews work to revive the centuries-old building that once served as a courthouse, stagecoach stop, and local watering hole.

Located at the crossroads of County Routes 571 and 528 in the heart of the Cassville section, the tavern is part of the federally recognized Cassville Crossroads Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1982. With roots stretching back to the mid-1700s and the current structure built before 1830, the site has long been considered a centerpiece of Jackson’s heritage.
