MADISON (WKOW) -- ZeniMax Media Inc. plans to lay off 39 employees in Madison, according to the company's filing with the state Department of Workforce Development (DWD).

The video game publisher's Madison team works out of Roundhouse Studios on Landmark Place. In its filing with the DWD, the company says the entire workplace is not expected to shut down, but certain employees working at that location will be impacted.

ZeniMax says employees were first notified of layoffs on July 2. At that time, nine employees were being impacted. Those layoffs were scheduled to take effect on Sept. 1. But the company says "subsequent events have occurred" and now 30 more employees will be impacted, effective Oct. 15.
