Lucas County will pay $1.7 million in interest before renewing its $37.5 million hotel debt in October, anticipating an interest rate up to 8 percent.

According to a resolution which was set to be considered at Tuesday’s meeting, the upcoming rollover of the hotel debt note will target an interest rate between 7 percent and 8 percent — roughly between $2.6 million and $3 million. The county will pay the $1.7 million in interest before reissuing the note.

On Tuesday, county commissioners pushed off votes on multiple resolutions related to the county’s debt issuances, after Budget Director John Wenzlick said the documents did not have the required signatures.
