LAS VEGAS ( FOX5 ) — Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford is suing the social media messaging app Kik, saying it poses a danger to the state’s children.
In the lawsuit against Kik and its parent company, MediaLab.AI , Ford cites the app’s anonymity feature and low barrier to entry.
According to officials, the ability to easily create anonymous accounts turned the platform into a safe haven for child predators to share sexual assault material.
In a statement, Ford said, in part: “I will not allow companies to neglect their responsibilities to Nevada’s youth, and I will bring any offender that does so to court.”
