WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Two legendary World War II bombers are sharing the same space in Wichita this week, offering visitors a rare chance to see the beginning and end of the air campaign against Japan side by side.

The B-29 "Doc" is hosting the B-25 "Yellow Rose" inside its hangar at Eisenhower National Airport through Aug. 29. The aircraft is operated by the Central Texas Wing of the Commemorative Air Force and is based in San Marcos, Texas.

“It’s pretty special. We’ve got a B-25 sitting in the same hangar right next to a B-29,” Josh Wells, the executive director of B-29 Doc, said. “The B-25 launched the first U.S. attack on mainland Japan with the Doolittle Raiders. A few years later, the B-29 was used to end the war, dropping the atomic bombs that led to victory in Japan.”
