Angel Studios Inc., the Utah-based distribution company behind the films “The King of Kings” and “Sound of Freedom,” has taken another stride toward going public.
In a plan announced Monday, Angel Studios said it will hold a special meeting with shareholders seeking approval on a proposed merger between Angel and Southport Acquisition Corporation, a special purpose acquisition company.
The meeting for Angel shareholders is set for Sept. 5, during which investors will vote on the proposed merger.
If approved, the merger transaction is “anticipated to close shortly thereafter,” which will result in Angel Studios stock being traded publicly on the New York Stock Exchange or NASDAQ exchange under the ticker symbol “ANGX.”
