FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - August is Immunization Awareness Month, and a local pediatrician says he’s concerned about vaccination rates for children in Indiana.
Even though some counties in 21Country have seen upticks in immunizations, Parkview pediatrician, Dr. Tony GiaQuinta says it still isn’t enough.
Over the last five years, Wells and Huntington counties saw a notable increase in vaccinations at 7.9% and 7.8%.
Allen County went up by just 0.1%.
Whitley (-2.0%) Adams (-7.6%) and Steuben (3.5%) counties among others all saw lower rates over the past five years.
LaGrange county had the lowest vaccination rate in northeast Indiana, down 18%.
