MOUNT DESERT ISLAND -- As more travelers are seeking access to nature, Acadia National Park is seeing some of their highest visitation numbers in years. A growing trend at national parks across the country.

Acadia National Park is at the height of one of their busiest summer seasons in decades, and park officials say the traffic isn't slowing down anytime soon.

"We've had a really busy summer as we have for many years in the past," said Acadia National park Management Assistant, John Kelly. "From the end of July last year to the end of July this year we've seen about a 2% increase, that's about 4 million visits to Acadia."

According to National Park Service Data, in July alone, the park saw nearly 800 thousand visitors, marking their busiest month in decades.
