STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — New York Attorney General Letitia James has opened an investigation into the fatal shooting of 44-year-old Jesse Campbell Friday night in Great Kills following an encounter with two off-duty police officers.

According to a statement from the attorney general, the inquiry by the Office of Special Investigation falls under a New York State Executive law that requires an assessment of all incidents in which a police officer may have caused a death through their actions or omissions.
