On August 2nd, the 141st anniversary of the birth of Rómulo Gallegos, a Venezuelan writer and politician, was celebrated. For this reason, the Rómulo Gallegos Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (Celarg) is honoring him with important activities.

On August 20th, at 4 pm, the exhibition "Gallegos. Writer, President. 1947-1948" will open in the Rómulo Gallegos Hall at Celarg, located in the Altamira sector. The event was also sponsored by the Miraflores Historical Archive and the Ministry of People's Power of the Office of the President.

In 1947, Venezuela elected Gallegos president by universal, direct, and secret suffrage. He took office on February 15, 1948, and increased the state's share of oil revenues.
