Alicia Vikander is looking back at The Danish Girl , ten years after its release, and says the film “already feels extremely outdated.”
The Tom Hooper-directed film, based on the 2000 novel of the same name by David Ebershoff, revolved around the lives of Danish painters Lili Elbe and Gerda Wegener.
Eddie Redmayne was cast as a transgender woman who was one of the first to undergo gender reassignment surgery. Redmayne earned an Oscar nomination for his portrayal of Lili Elbe, while Vikander won as Best Supporting Actress .
