Former 76ers playoff star announces retirement

After 13 NBA seasons and 24 professional seasons on the basketball court, former first-round draft pick Marco Belinelli is hanging up the sneakers.

The Italian announced his retirement Monday afternoon, having spent the last six seasons of his career with Virtus Bologna, an Italian professional basketball club.

Belinelli was an NBA champion in 2014 with the San Antonio Spurs, whom he played his last NBA action with in the 2019-20 season.

Belinelli signed with the 76ers in February of 2018, playing in 28 games and averaging 13.6 points per game with the team, including 12.9 in the playoffs.
