Anti-immigrant crusade ignores their perspective
Most everyone who reads this is a U. S. citizen — most born in the U.S., some naturalized. I pose one question: What would it take for you to leave the U.S.?
The most recent example would be Vietnam War draft dodgers. Between 50,000 and 125,000 Americans, primarily young men, moved to Canada to avoid being drafted. Many others sought refuge in Canada to desert the U.S. military during the conflict. These young men did not want to be drafted into a war they didn’t believe in and where they might be killed or seriously wounded.
What would cause undocumented immigrants to leave their native land, their families and their heritage? Primarily to seek protection from poverty, violence and death.
Again I ask: What would it take for you to leave
