The Jefferson County African American Culture and Heritage Festival once again brought music, history and community pride to Charles Town over the past weekend. The 31st annual parade stepped off at noon on Saturday, drawing crowds to celebrate the area’s rich African American history and culture.

The parade, organized by Jefferson County African American Culture and Heritage Festival Inc. (JCAACHF), featured local high school bands, community organizations, and area businesses marching through the streets. It was led by this year’s grand marshal, coach Shannon A. Layton, of Spring Mills High School, celebrating his team’s 2025 basketball championship win.
