MURRAY – A grant program from the Kentucky Attorney General’s Office has given Murray Police Department officers an extra layer of protection by funding its newly delivered lightweight hard body armor.
MPD Chief Sam Bierds said the hard body armor was funded through the Kentucky Attorney General Body Armor Grant Program. That program was created by the Kentucky General Assembly in 2024 and is administered by the Attorney General’s Department of Criminal Investigations (DCI). He said he was grateful to Attorney General Russell Coleman and his office and is very pleased to be able to provide additional protection for the “men and women who keep our community safe.”
