Waverly-Shell Rock, Janesville, and Clarksville were all ranked amongst the top 16 teams in their respective classes by IAsportz. The publication covers a multitude of sports across the entire state, and releases weekly rankings in each sport.

The Go-Hawks were listed as the No. 16 team in class 4A to start the year. The Go-Hawks finished last season with a 6-4 record, losing to 9-1 Gilbert in the state playoff first round by just seven points. This season will be the first for the team under new head coach Cal Twait.
