An object fell from the sky and landed in a cornfield in eastern Poland, causing an explosion that left a large crater and smashed nearby windows, Polish media reported.

The incident, under investigation by police and the army, happened in the early hours of Wednesday, August 20. Nobody was injured.

Poland, a NATO ally, shares a border with Ukraine, which is defending against a Russian invasion that began in February 2022.

It was not immediately clear if the explosion in Poland was related to the war.
