After feedback from the public and other elected officials, Franklin County is changing course on Old Highway 100, both literally and figuratively.

Franklin County Highway Administrator Jim Grutsch recommended a plan Tuesday to reroute the road 28 feet to the north of a landslide that has closed the road since May 9, parallel to right-of-way the county already possesses. He said the project will mostly be completed with county highway department workers and would cost around $100,000 — a fraction of what had previously been estimated to repair the 320-foot-long slide and existing road. ×
