Prison board chair steps down as Dauphin County jail begins move to new healthcare provider

Controller Mary Bateman has stepped down from her position as chair of the Dauphin County Prison Board, adding potential turbulence as the county moves on from its longtime, and fraught, jail medical provider.

Bateman confirmed she resigned as chair earlier this month but declined to say why she gave up the title.
