North-east cyclists are being called upon to take part in a new biking challenge to raise vital funds for suicide prevention.

For the first time, Samaritans volunteers in Aberdeen are holding a new cycling event to raise money for the charity in the local area on Sunday, August 24. Keen cyclists can still take part by signing-up before Friday August 22.

Sams Ride North, the brand-new event , comprises three different routes of varying difficulties, with the most testing of the three taking bold cyclists on the 102.4 mile Lecht and Suie Monster route.

The infamous Suie Hill, which features prominently in all three routes, dares cyclists to take it on before reaching the town of Alford where they can finish up and expect a warm welcome back, refreshments, goody bags, and finishers
