The recent article about David Johnson, founder of the Global Owl Project, did my heart good, (“ The tiny burrowing owls of Oregon faced collapse until one man answered the call to save them, ” Aug. 4).
The work Johnson has spearheaded to save the burrowing owl population is a monumental success story. It’s a needed reminder that there are good people out there doing the hard work of trying to save and protect species that are threatened or on the verge of extinction.
In the current climate of rollbacks to laws protecting the environment and the flora and fauna who inhabit our land, I am grateful for people like David Johnson, who are doing their part to help us move forward in our conservation efforts.
