A SKYSCRAPER suspended from an asteroid in orbit over Dubai has been planned by a New York architecture firm.

The proposed Analemma Tower, stretching 32,000 meters and anchored by resilient space cables, would feature homes, offices and even gardens.

The tower is envisioned to float in the sky, orbit the globe in a figure-8 pattern and return to the same spot every 24 hours.

It promises to be self-sustaining: powered by space-based solar panels and sustained by air moisture and rainwater which would be filtered and recycled in a semi-closed loop system.

The tower's elevation height of 32,000 metres would mean that residents would get an additional 45 minutes of daylight.

The hanging tower would also be expected to reach speeds of 300mph as it moves through the sky.
