Los Angeles and the greater Southern California region are bracing for the most significant heatwave of the summer Wednesday as officials urgently warn people should prepare for significant increases in fire danger and ill health effects.
The blistering heat event begins Wednesday and will last through the weekend, according to the National Weather Service which has described it as ”hazardous weather conditions” and issued an Extreme Heat Warning for 11 a.m. Thursday through 9 p.m. Friday.
The heat and dry conditions will also dramatically raise the risk of wildfires.
