Staten Island students receive training from renowned martial artist

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Richmond County Jiu Jitsu , a dojo in Dongan Hills, recently welcomed renowned martial arts master Ron Balicki .

Located at 2000 Hylan Blvd, the dojo held a two-day seminar with nearly 30 participants, giving local students a chance to train with an accomplished martial artist.

Conrad Sparnroft, an apprentice Jeet Kune Do instructor as well as a fourth-degree Moo Duk Kwan and second-degree Judo black belt at the dojo, said Balicki’s visit was arranged through his personal connection with the martial arts master.

“I’ve been training with him since 2017,” said Sparnroft. “I teach his system ....”

During the seminar, Balicki focused on Jeet Kune Do and Kali, teaching techniques ranging from two-stick drills to hand-to-hand combat known as Kano Tukin.
