The Clark County School Board approved a new teacher contract last night.

Highlights of the two-year contract with the Clark County Education Association include an increased district contribution to teachers’ healthcare benefits, a confirmation of the pay incentives for teachers in "hard-to-fill” positions that had been secured earlier this year through legislative action, and the opportunity for veteran teachers to request a review of their placement on the salary table.

The last of these, the Salary Review and Adjustment Process, is what had been referred to in 2023 as a “lookback.” It will reset teachers on a pay scale better reflecting years of experience and advanced education, and is intended to address the salary compaction – fueled by off-and-on pay freezes and shifting pay stru
